Access into Abita Springs from Covington has been a little more limited lately with the bridge construction, especially for bikes and pedestrians.

Local businesses have taken a hit, including Brooks Bike Shop, where so many riders normally rent bikes and make their way down the trail into toBrooks' Bike Shop

Today, we received a thank you note from Brooks’ Bike Shop recognizing the quick action taken to help improve the temporary bypass — from adding signage along the route to laying gravel in the muddy areas to keep things passable.

Big thank you to Dan Curtis and the guys for jumping in and handling the gravel work so quickly. It’s great to see everyone working together and supporting one another — that’s what a small-town community is all about.
